Inside Steven Alan

LA Annex: New Arrivals!

  • We want to start showing our LA stores some love here on our journal, with updates on the latest and greatest starting with our Venice Annex!

    (clockwise from top)

    1. Sleeveless Blazer

Our navy sleeveless blazer is work appropriate, show appropriate, dinner appropriate, and quite obviously props appropriate, too. Paired here with our new women’s single needle shirt, it’s a bit dressed up without having to channel your inner Janet Reno.

    2. Alexander Wang Tank w/ Mini Pocket

These have been flying out of our shop since their arrival in mid-January, and why not? Slouchy, insanely comfortable and quite the bargain to boot, these Alexander Wang tees are ideal worn alone or dressed up underneath a blazer. Offered in an array of neutral colors, here’s a tee that’s really a no brainer.

    3. Loomstate Bluff Cardigan

Extremely breathable organic cotton is the hallmark of Loomstate, and this cardigan is an instant classic. Slightly oversized, this can be worn over a tee or your favorite dress. With subtle details and an unbelievable feel, you’ll be hard pressed to take it off at the end of the night. Luckily, you’ll have your Steven Alan pj’s to lessen the burden.

    4. Acne Hex Jean

These deep blue jeans fit slim and run long, and are a stalwart piece in the long line of excellent items from Swedish-based Acne.  Pair these with patent heels or your most glorious vintage combat boots; either way, the result will be a unanimous Yes.  Also offered at the Annex in black and teal.

    (clockwise from top)

    1. RRL Jean

Ralph Lauren’s pant from his ultra-high-end RRL —named after his Ridgway, Colorado, ranch, is inspired by authentically worn vintage jeans from ranchers and laborers. RRL jeans are made like those of traditional cattlemen and railroad hands: from indigo-soaked selvage denim. You’ll appreciate that authenticity when you wear ‘em to a gallery opening.

    2. N.D.C

While distressing is the signature of their line, n.d.c. (Nom de Code/Codename) design team Enrique Corbi and Arnaud Zannier make it apparent that quality is paramount. The worn-in theme of their line conveys a classic aesthetic that out-lives trends. Handmade, luxurious materials look like they’ve been polished and softened by years of being dearly loved. The result is original quality footwear that will stay with you through all of life’s journeys.
We carry them in navy, brown and tan. So good!

    3. Sundek Swimsuit

Founded in the 1940’s, Sundek decided in 1958 to focus on the burgeoning surf communities in Hawaii and Southern California. They created their now iconic rainbow design on the back yoke of their quick-drying nylon surf shorts and added a small loop on the waistband in order to hang-dry them, either from a hook or from a car’s antenna, as many did on their way home from the beach. True to their 70’s and 80’s design, Sundeks are still cut slimmer and shorter than the ankle-grazers of today. Sundek swimwear is built to fit. We carry them in red and yellow. These are a must have for spending your summer on the beaches of California.

    4. Generic Man Shoe

The Generic Man and Steven Alan have teamed up once again on some classic footwear that is sure to become an instant staple in any guys wardrobe. This time their collaboration brings us a slip-on that has been given a vintage treatment. The slip-ons have all been hand-painted and they come in three color ways – black, white and grey. The slip-ons are perfect for taking a walk down Abbot Kinney and striding into Abbot’s Habit for your morning coffee.

    5.&6. Engineered Garments

Engineered Garments took its brand name from a pattern maker hired to draft the first round of patterns. Their clothes aren’t designed as they are instead engineered due to the vast amount of detailing involved in each garment. We currently carry their linen fedora and short sleeve button down camp shirts whose inspiration is true to the designs which are inspired from American sportswear, outdoor clothing and military uniforms.
