Steven Alan’s capsule collection for The Designers Invitation Project, launching March 19th at UNIQLO stores internationally, is a true collaborative effort between Steven and UNIQLO. Employing the vast UNIQLO resources, Steven chose and developed a series of special fabrics, including linen and cotton twills, seersucker gingham, soft enzyme-washed cottons, pretty voiles, and custom floral prints. Steven also selected all trims, such as contrast piping, tuxedo pleating, covered buttons, petal hems, and twisted collars, all in keeping with exacting Japanese standards of detail. “I really appreciated the attention to detail and commitment to the execution that everyone working on this project shared,” said Steven. The cheerful spring color story of red, white, yellow, and blue is tempered with urban dark green. The resulting fifteen pieces make up a realized women’s line; crisp, charming American sportswear balanced with UNIQLO’s perfected mass minimalism.
