Off the Grid Comes to Hayes Valley
Much to the delight of our Hayes Valley staff, SF food truck fest Off the Grid has come to the neighborhood. Every Wednesday around 5 PM, the rotating mobile smorgasbord sets up around the corner from our shop. Last week, we decided to go truck hopping to sample some of the mouth-watering offerings.
First up: Lumpia from Hapa, a Filipino truck that was recently listed as one of the Smithsonian’s top 20 food trucks in America. It was delicious in all it’s deep fried glory.
Next, we worked our way over to KOJA, the Korean/Japanese fusion truck, where we got their signature KOJA sandwich and Mochimisu. The sandwich featured Korean BBQ chicken and grilled pineapple on a bun made of rice – creative and delicious.
Finally, we got a fish taco from The Taco Guys, which was the perfect way to round out the trifecta of trucks.
Off the Grid folk also ventured our way to shop around for a bit. We really can’t think of a better way to spend a Wednesday evening than shopping and eating in Hayes Valley, so we’re thrilled to have them in the neighborhood.
Next week at Off the Grid, be sure to check out Chairman Bao (delicious buns), Senor Sisig (another amazing Filipino truck), and Curry Up Now (great Indian street food – featuring a chicken tikka masala burrito). This entry was posted on Monday, March 5th, 2012 at 9:03 am and is filed under Events, Food.
